Great news! Today we received the official registration forms of our foundation in Ghana. We are now officially a N.G.O. committed to helping the aged. Next week we will open a bankaccount, so we can start fundraising for our projects. This information will be added to the website as soon as possible!

Today, the second shipment has been sent to Ghana. This time it was 11 boxes. The shipment contained mostly bedlinnen for the dorms. This has been the last shipment for this year. We would like to thank everyone for their commitment to our goal and for the donation of needed materials.

Today we have had a meeting with members of the board of the "Oud in Afrika" foundation. This foundation is mainly active in Kenya, and has a similar goal to ours. For further information: www.oudinafrika.nl. In the meeting we have shared experiences and knowledge and hope for a good cooperation in the future.

Today, we have sent 17 boxes full of materials to Ghana. The boxes contained, amongst other things, items which we received from individuals, like bed linen, kitchenware, cutlery, office articles and more. All these materials are either hard to obtain or are more expensive in Ghana. Everything will be stored until we finish building the first center. We would like to thank everyone who made this possible!

On the 29th of May we returned from Ghana. From that day we have been very busy working on getting started. This work consisted of establishing the foundation (containing the usual bureaucracy), starting the website and publicising the foundation by giving presentations and setting up a contact network.

We hereby give a summary of what we have achieved so far:

  • 16 boxes containing necessary materials for the first center in Ghana, a mattress, a microwave and two chairs ready to be shipped to Ghana.
  • On June 28th we gave our first presentation at Duyn en Rhyn Leiden.
  • Mrs. Leny Rieken has donated a generous amount of money to our foundation, by asking everyone who visited her birthday for a contribution. Again thank you very much!
